Homophobic religious fanatics - if there is a hell you are going there faster than gays would be.

The Creator doesn’t look kindly upon people who spew hatred and want to discriminate against others. Your sin is far more serious than you think. What makes you even consider that the Creator would look upon you favorably just because you insert a penis in a vagina and make life miserable, humiliate and force a group of people to second class citizens? That just doesn’t cut it in the eyes of the Creator.

Your religions are fabricated and false, your interpretations of the Scriptures are erroneous and you have no right whatsoever to make the government accept your ideology. Ours is a secular nation contrary to what you believe and a THEOCRACY is not what our Founding Fathers intended for their country.

There are even some religions, Christians to be exact that not only disagree with your homophobia but are performing marriage ceremonies for people of the same sex.

Religious extremists are pissed because they can no longer humiliate gay people. We are proud, we don't buy what they are selling so these homophobic religious fanatics are attempting to scare us with this going to hell crap...they used to do the same with Blacks in the old South.

It is a concept fabricated by religions to subdue their followers

The reason I am doing this post is because I received a very misguided comment from someone who does not even have the balls to have a profile but signed it “Rodney”

I had written a post May 17, 2010 named “WHY DON’T WE TURN THE TABLES AROUND?” Pointing out how it felt to be discriminated on the basis of your sexual orientation and how religions will deny you the rights everyone else enjoys thus making gays second class citizens

That was way back in May and today I get a comment from Rodney and this is what he had to say:

First of all, the concept of heaven and hell is a little too difficult for me to even contemplate let alone accept. I do believe that it is something religions fabricated in order to make their followers be submissive and obedient, to behave well and to be able to be governed.

You are basically telling me that my love for someone is not as worthy as yours

Second, I don’t think the Bible or any of the Scriptures are HOLLY; in other words, they are not the word of God or the Creator whatever you want to call it. The Scriptures were written by men and they were not very enlightened in those days nor was the idea of procreation not to be promoted since the world population was very small in those days and one lousy plague could have wiped out the whole human race.

The Scriptures were written from tales and historical accounts that were told from father to son before there was written language. As one might expect the next narrator would attach his own interpretations and embellish it some more. By the time it made it to the written Scriptures it was nothing like what the elders had in mind to pass along as a form of wisdom and a guide to fairness and civilized behavior.

Enter the Church and they picked and threw out a lot of it in more recent times. The early Church for example did perform SAME SEX MARRIAGES although nobody talks about it and they will refute it and ask you to prove it. I couldn’t prove it any more than these religious fanatics could prove the existence of heaven or hell…because these are based on FAITH and it has nothing to do with either historical, scientific or common sense…FAITH is a feeling, a belief albeit it might be erroneous, it is held dear as one of the convictions most passionately defended.

So, Rodney, your faith means nothing to me, nor do your Romans 1 and I am not going to tolerate for you to get a secular government to put their seal of approval on your desire to discriminate and make laws that take away my rights. Furthermore, HELL means even less for me since I am not really looking forward to going to some place after my demise where I can find the likes of Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and yes, YOU.

If you need the threat of hell to behave well, if you only act in a civilized and reasonable manner because you want to go to HEAVEN then basically you are not really a good person. You should be able to be good because it is in your nature and because you want to be not because of fear or because somebody who wants your tithing tells you that is the way it is.

I suspect Rodney you are a Mormon because this posting was in between some of the “DEBUNKING MORMONISM” posts I made back in May 2010. If that is the case, I suggest that your church will eventually realize that gays have a lot of income and by some miraculous “vision” one of your church elders will have a revelation that gays are to be accepted just the way you did in the 70’s with blacks.

CONSIDER THE SOURCE OF THE SCRIPTURES

IF YOU BELIEVE IT IS THE DIRECT WORD OF GOD YOU ARE DELUSIONAL

We must come to terms with one very basic principle: the one that THE CREATOR does not speak directly to humans nor does “IT” have the human qualities we have so absurdly attributed to “IT”.

If you believe that way, fine; (I STILL THINK YOU ARE DELUSIONAL) but take into consideration other facts: like the men who conveyed the message from that Creator…So that if they were mere mortals just writing down what they perceived to be a message from the Creator, they were also subject to the bias and the ignorance of the times. I say this because as wise as those “prophets” may have been; as enlightened and retrospectively aware of their mission to provide guidelines and “COMMANDMENTS” they were in the end: MERE MORTALS.

Mere mortals as such would be susceptible to suffer from all the common frailties of humanity of those days. If we consider that homosexuality was considered a mental illness up to a few years ago, still fresh in our collective minds…then you have to take into consideration that those same men who wrote these Scriptures would have a terrible misunderstanding and prejudice about homosexuality.

Put another way: The overwhelming majority of scientists agree that homosexuality is something the individual is born with; where they disagree and have yet to find out is if it is something genetic, a hormonal imbalance at the time of the mother’s pregnancy or if it is just the Creator’s gift to humanity. I say gift because I consider diversity to be one of nature’s most noticeable features. I also think that change is not only inevitable but a constant.

Whether you believe in Creationism or Evolution surely you can’t ignore the fact that out of 6 billion inhabitants of this spaceship we call earth, there aren’t two who are exactly alike. Out of the trillion snowflakes, there aren’t two that are alike…same goes for the gazillion grains of sand; so that if you are claiming divine intervention then you must abandon the idea that the Creator rejects and condemns person morally superior and pleasing to the Creator; no way, no-how.

A LOOK AT AMERICAN STUPIDITY

AND MOST OF IT SEEMS TO BE COMING FROM THE RIGHT WING

A while back the right wing Teahadist-Republicans had their underwear all tied up in a knot over President Obama bowing to the Emperor of Japan. Mind you, it is diplomacy and protocol and it has gone on with other Presidents…but no, the righties had to put their two cents worth in there and criticize as they have done with everything Obama has done. I think if they could get a hold of him taking a shit they would find a way to criticize that too. Something to the extent that our President only shits out of the left side of his asshole.

But the question is why is it not acceptable to the fanatics on the right for Obama to bow and it is for Bush to hold hands and even kiss the King of Saudi Arabia? Why are we not up in arms and recalling our ambassador to that kingdom for the recent 500 lashes a man received for being a homosexual?

Why is it not the cause of great indignation that some of these countries actually execute gay people?

I will tell you why; it is because most of these right wing assholes really think that gays should be punished and to them these Muslim countries are doing to homosexuals what they wish to do to them in America: criminalize homosexuality.

So this is acceptable?

If you are an Evangelical-Fundamentalist Christian and you are reading this; I ask you to search deep in your conscience and in your soul and even consult the teachings of Christ. I don’t think that you will find Jesus recommending persecution, hatred and discrimination of anyone. So that what you are really seeking is validation and the ability to legally discriminate, to express your disdain, disapproval and rejection for homosexuality (homophobia)

Same goes for those Muslims, if you really think your religion has any rightful excuse to do the atrocities it does against gay people, then look into the teachings of your Prophet…I doubt you will find any hatred and discrimination either.

WHEN I HEAR THE MORMONS AND EVANGELICALS TALK I WANT TO VOMIT

Stop telling everyone that you are not spreading hatred, division, and misunderstanding and that your message is really about love and inclusion. That through your religion people can obtain salvation and comfort. That is the furthest thing from your collective tiny minds. Your agenda is clear: to convert everyone even if you have to kill them in the process.

I think of very many poor children who are perceived to be gay at a very early age. These unfortunate souls are the recipients of constant bullying, humiliated and made fun of…all in the hands of the very bullies you raised…you see, if you hold those ideas and you are constantly voicing your disapproval for gays your own children will pick up on it and will take your hatred; transferred through them and unload it on some little boy or little girl who happens to act “different”

There are children who at a very early age display signs of gender reversal. There are little boys who would much rather play with dolls and doll houses than trucks and soldiers and little girls who are labeled “Tom Boys” who like sports and rough play instead of delicate pink games and frilly-lacy things. These are not acquired tastes folks…it is there and nobody told these children they should be doing that…on the contrary. As having been one who hated to get baseballs, sports gear and military toys when I was a child I can tell you it is not learned.

Then you give your little boy toy soldiers, toy guns and tanks and you are puzzled why he is so aggressive and then he grows up and wants to go and kill some perceived enemy abroad.

I say to you that you are no Christian and furthermore you are worse than the people you criticize because they don’t have a choice on the matter…you see; God made them that way, contrary to what you think; but God made you also and he gave you a brain, albeit a very small one and you choose to take this ideology and this attitude against people that have done nothing to you nor do they represent a threat to your marriage.

I found this letter in one of the blogs and it merits reading…it is from a mother of a gay young man.

The piece itself was written by Sharon Underwood, White River Junction, Vermont, USA, and published in April 2000 in the Valley News. Her feelings are very well expressed, and were in response to the many letters that had been sent to the Valley News concerning the “homosexual menace” in Vermont.

"I am the mother of a gay son and I’ve taken enough from you good people.

I’m tired of your foolish rhetoric about the “homosexual agenda” and your allegations that accepting homosexuality is the same thing as advocating sex with children. You are cruel and ignorant. You have been robbing me of the joys of motherhood ever since my children were tiny. My firstborn son started suffering at the hands of the moral little thugs from your moral, upright families from the time he was in the first grade. He was physically and verbally abused from first grade straight through high school because he was perceived to be gay. He never professed to be gay or had any association with anything gay, but he had the misfortune not to walk or have gestures like the other boys. He was called “fag” incessantly, starting when he was 6.

In high school, while your children were doing what kids that age should be doing, mine labored over a suicide note; drafting and redrafting it to be sure his family knew how much he loved them. My sobbing 17-year-old tore the heart out of me as he choked out that he just couldn't bear to continue living any longer, that he didn't want to be gay and that he couldn't face a life without dignity.

You have the audacity to talk about protecting families and children from the homosexual menace, while you yourselves tear apart families and drive children to despair. I don’t know why my son is gay, but I do know that God didn’t put him, and millions like him, on this Earth to give you someone to abuse. God gave you brains so that you could think, and it’s about time you started doing that.

At the core of all your misguided beliefs is the belief that this could never happen to you, that there is some kind of subculture out there that people have chosen to join. The fact is that if it can happen to my family, it can happen to yours, and you won't get to choose. Whether it is genetic or whether something occurs during a critical time of fetal development, I don’t know. I can only tell you with an absolute certainty that it is inborn.

If you want to tout your own morality, you’d best come up with something more substantive than your heterosexuality. You did nothing to earn it; it was given to you. If you disagree, I would be interested in hearing your story, because my own heterosexuality was a blessing I received with no effort whatsoever on my part. It is so woven into the very soul of me that nothing could ever change it. For those of you who reduce sexual orientation to a simple choice, a character issue, a bad habit or something that can be changed by a 10-step program, I’m puzzled. Are you saying that your own sexual orientation is nothing more than something you have chosen, that you could change it at will? If that's not the case, then why would you suggest that someone else can?

A popular theme in your letters is that Vermont has been infiltrated by outsiders. Both sides of my family have lived in Vermont for generations. I am heart and soul a Vermonter, so I'll thank you to stop saying that you are speaking for “true Vermonters.

You invoke the memory of the brave people who have fought on the battlefield for this great country, saying that they didn't give their lives so that the “homosexual agenda” could tear down the principles they died defending. My 83-year-old father fought in some of the most horrific battles of World War II, was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart.

He shakes his head in sadness at the life his grandson has had to live. He says he fought alongside homosexuals in those battles, that they did their part and bothered no one. One of his best friends in the service was gay, and he never knew it until the end, and when he did find out, it mattered not at all. That wasn't the measure of the man.

You religious folk just can't bear the thought that as my son emerges from the hell that was his childhood he might like to find a lifelong companion and have a measure of happiness. It offends your sensibilities that he should request the right to visit that companion in the hospital, to make medical decisions for him or to benefit from tax laws governing inheritance. How dare he? You say. These outrageous requests would threaten the very existence of your family, would undermine the sanctity of marriage.

You use religion to abdicate your responsibility to be thinking human beings. There are vast numbers of religious people who find your attitudes repugnant. God is not for the privileged majority, and God knows my son has committed no sin. The deep-thinking author of a letter to the April 12 Valley News who lectures about homosexual sin and tells us about “those of us who have been blessed with the benefits of a religious upbringing” asks: “What ever happened to the idea of striving … to be better human beings than we are?”

Indeed, sir, whatever happened to that?

DO WE OR DON’T WE HAVE A 1ST AMENDMENT?

And now Republicans also want to do away with the 14^th amendment…all because they don’t like immigrants and don’t want immigrants to have children born here…that makes them American citizens.

The recent debate about the Ground Zero Mosque in New York is creating an interesting scenario. The evangelical Christians are leading a push not just to ban the Mosque being built at Ground Zero, but to ban all mosques all together. The extreme Christian-right is leading a charge that would culminate into the banning of the Muslim religion all together. If they get their way, bye bye 1st amendment, hello Christian Theocracy.

Any of you remember how the Christians attempted to place a cross from the steel beams taken from the ruins of the towers? I thought that was not only disrespectful to those who died but downright insulting...there were victims who were Jewish, Muslims and others...who told these people that they could monopolize the place we call "ground zero" for the purpose of promoting Christianity?

First let us clarify one thing…there is no mosque…they are talking about building a community center. Second, how far does this facility have to be in order not to be an insult? 2 blocks, 2 miles, 2 states away, 2 continents away?.

They are even talking about not allowing any mosques to be built at all anywhere…is that right assholes? Didn’t anyone tell you in your high school civics class that we are a secular nation, not a CHRISTIAN NATION?

We are not a Christian nation founded solely upon Judeo-Christian principles, but a nation in which the large majority professes to be Christian. This is a significant difference.

On Nov. 4, 1796, near the end of George Washington’s second term, the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between the United States and the Bey and Subjects of Tripoli of Barbary was signed. The U.S. Senate passed this treaty unanimously on June 7, 1797, and President John Adams signed it. Article 11 states that “As the Government of the United States is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no said character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen; and as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.”

Look, I am not particularly thrilled with religion either…any religion. If it was up to me there would not be tax exemption for religion and I would certainly feel better if there are no more churches, temples, synagogues or mosques built in America. I think religion is detrimental to society…I call them “those great monuments to ignorance and superstition” But we do have a CONSTITUTION and we live by it, and it has served us well for a couple of centuries.

The way it is designed, changes to the Constitution are very difficult to make and sometimes it takes decades. I really doubt that Republicans are going to be able to pull any large public opinion change in the very near future. But I am worried that because of the crazy nature of their rhetoric, the hatred and racism, the xenophobia and divisiveness they are spewing that our country will become hopelessly polarized.

But then again, isn’t that what those extremist terrorists want?

CHURCHES, TEMPLES AND MOSQUES – BUILD THEM PLEASE

THOSE MONUMENTS TO IGNORANCE AND SUPERSTITION NEED TO BE BUILT

There is a lot of controversy these days about a Mosque being built within blocks of the ground zero World Trade Center. As usual, the ugly heads of racism and xenophobia are raising their snake heads and spewing their lethal venom. There is no doubt in my mind that what is motivating these people to object is racism, xenophobia and even some who are involved in politics are using it as an easy way to score points with the more regressive, ignorant conservative base.

Having said that, I think I should clarify my position on this issue: I am in favor of building the fucking thing. Not for the usual reasons; which are more than reasonable…that in America we have freedom of religion. My opinion is as follows: I think that building it would create jobs; those of bricklayers, carpenters, plumbers and the like. The only thing I regret is that they will be tax exempt.

All of these; whether they are churches, temples or mosques should pay taxes like everyone else. But because we live in America they are given a special privilege not to do so, supposedly to allow the free practice of religion. But make no mistake about it, these are nothing more than entertainment centers no different than movie theaters where they get you in there and entertain you for a fee and movie theaters have to pay taxes.

I have always functioned under the premise that if something is not logical to me I will not include it in my set of convictions or beliefs. I use common sense; which some say is uncommon. But just think about the banality of it all…that we should be discussing whether to allow one particular religion to build a monument to ignorance and superstition and for others to oppose it.

Please don’t tell me, don’t use the argument that building this mosque is an affront, an insult to the victims of 9/11 and their families because when America had its chance to avenge that horrible attack they blew it…they had Osama Bin Laden in the crosshairs, within reach and vulnerable and America once more fucked it up and let him slip by. Of course, arguably Bush and the Republicans found it convenient to continue a state of emergency and war because it solidified their power and Bush was able to trample the Constitution and making the executive branch a lot more powerful than it should be…drowning out all criticism by declaring those who objected as unpatriotic or friends of the terrorists.

I don't want to hear generalizations and bigoted arguments...Muslims are generally very peace loving, noble people and those who perpetrated those attacks were members of a fringe radical group not unlike those fringe elements we have in America today and call themselves Christians...do not forget that it was the Church that carried out some of the most hideous, horrendous crimes humanity has ever seen in the name of religion: they called it the INQUISITION...just a few centuries ago.

I have said it before countless times…I find religions to be a nuisance and detrimental to society…I really don’t give a flying fuck whether you worship green unicorns from Tasmania and you hang from a chandelier to pray to them. If you need a church, a temple or a mosque to engage in that endeavor, then so be it.

Conversely, there is a lot of talk lately about the 14^th Amendment to our Constitution. That is, to change it somehow as not to allow the offspring of illegal aliens to be considered American Citizens. Think about this again from a practical, common sense approach…they actually want to change the Constitution…that very document they so vehemently claim they adore and defend. They don’t tell you that altering, changing or making amendments to our Constitution is a very difficult process and it takes decades if we are to go by past experiences.

So basically, what we have here is those politicians pandering to that xenophobic, racist elements that compose the base of the Republican Party…once more the ugly snake raising its head to spew venom…and the recipients of this venom are those who can least defend themselves: the illegal aliens who have been vilified and made into escape goats…be it for the jobs they are supposed to be taking away from native born Americans or for their drug trafficking or for their criminal behavior, which in my opinion is bogus because the jobs they do Americans are not willing to perform; the drug traffickers are not the illegal alien who comes here to mow lawns and send money home to Mexico or Guatemala and the statistics are stacked against these people committing crimes because they have to keep a low profile, they have to keep their noses clean and be inconspicuous, never getting into trouble to avoid deportation. So the arguments are bogus, bogus, dishonestly bogus.
